About the Owner

Hello and welcome to my site Flawless Hair Strandz! I have always have a love for weaves, wigs, extensions, etc. I started sewing clothes at a very young age for years. I would sew outfits with matching hair bands, ties, and bags. I started selling outfits and some of my designs were in some locals fashion shows. I even mage shorts for the fellas to match their kicks. Eventually, mys sewing and creative skills evolved to making non-clothing items such as curtains, aprons, baseball capes, gloves, socks, sweatshirts, items with pleats, jackets, pillow with lace, etc. It got to the point when people were asking me to make thing for their living and bedrooms. I've always been a creative individual, practicing drawing and painting. I have an eye for all things being beautiful and neat.

I started getting interested in hair after I graduated from high school and I would get sew-in extensions. I could not always afford to get the service back to back as decent hair from the beauty supply was costly. I was a college student working at a flower shop and my non-existent budget couldn't permit to always purchase 3 packs of hair and pay the stylist for the install. I would have to save to get packs of hair. Once I get a new install, I would plan for my next by getting two packs of hair one month and right before it was time to take out my install , I would purchase the third pack of hair. Back then I wore my sew-in extensions anywhere from 6-8 weeks with bi-weekly service. I was trying my best to preserve the hair. I treated the hair as if it was my own making sure to keep manipulation to a minimum and utilizing heat-less crimp and curl options.

I would have hair left over from and install that I would use but stylist do not like using pieces of hair even if the track was pretty long. I had to find a way to keep my hair beautiful while being on a tight budget. There was a girl who went to the same university as me and he hair was always on point. I asked her who her stylist was and she told me she does braids and sew-ins. All this time this girl was in my class and I thought the hair she had was growing out oh her scalp, I was amazed. She started doing my sew ins for only $40 but I always paid her $60, her pricing was great compared to $150-$225 at the shop! She was amazing and she would sew the extensions in where I could take them out, wash, condition and reuse them. A couple of years later, she then told me she was moving out of state and I was devastated. Her technique made my hair grow and I didn't even realize how long past my shoulders my hair had got. I was back to square one.

I was wearing my natural hair for awhile and I was starting to damage due to all of the flat ironing and one night a friend of mine asked me to go out for drinks and dancing. I declined because I would sweat out my hair. She told me about a half wig. I have never heard of anything like it before. I had to see what she was taking about. We went to the beauty supply where there were countless half and full wigs. I always thought wigs were for older women as I only wore natural, braids, sew-ins, and ponytails. It never occurred to me to visit the wig section at the beauty supply. We found a half wig that matched my flat iron hair texture. My friend showed me how to put it on and leave out some of my hair. It looked super natural and it was synthetic hair. I have never had any other synthetic hair but braids so, I was amazed once again. I got so many compliments on my hair, but no one knew it wasn't mine because I got the hair to be a few inches longer than my own.

I started wearing half wigs in between sew-ins and started wearing them most of the time. Since beauty supply air kept changing and the quality was going down, I always wore synthetic half wig. They were easy, hassle free, and I could change style often. I soon learned that the combs in the half wigs started to thin out the front and the back of my hair line and the combs hurt. I use to try to melt down the plastic teeth in the combs with a lighter to make them less prickly (don't judge me). That work for a short time and I had to stop as the combs still irritated my scalp. The caps on my wigs would never be the perfect fit or the hair would be thin and I would have to sew in leftover tracks. I also took the combs out and sewing in wig clips on the the side instead of the front and the back. I would cut the wig and sew to make it tighter, I would add cheap human hair to help the wig last longer, add satin ribbon so my edges would not rub out. I performed so many tricks and hacks to the countless synthetic wigs that I eventually just have them up all together.

From my experiences of tweaking and thinking outside of the box for hair styles, wig and weave wearing, the task got tiresome as I was trying to find the perfect hairstyle that was not synthetic, convenient, and cute. I had bad experiences with quick weaves and my hair was in no condition for that.

I came across virgin hair from some some dancer friends of mine. I purchased some hair from a vendor and had my stylist put it in. She was impressed. So impressed that she did the fold-over method and told me the hair was really nice and I will want to use it again. She wanted to know where the hair came from. I never told her but she would give me the money and I would bring her the hair. I wanted a break from sew-ins so I started making wigs. I made so many for myself and others. I learned by trial and error and as the hair industry evolves, I make it a point to learn as much as possible. I never knew how to braid but I am great at a sewing machine and hand sewing. It brings me back to childhood, there is something calming and soothing when I am working with my hands. Sewing was an early love of mine.

I would wear my wigs and people would compliment me asking who did my hair and when I would tell them it was a wig, the look of amazement let me know my work was great. I would offer to make wigs for people and it snowballed into women bring me bundles, closure, frontals and even wigs to tweak and/or fix and repair. Ladies would meet me drop off bundles and I would have a wig created. Women I didn't know came to me referred by someone I made a wig for. I always make sure I am nice and polite to all no matter what. I never know who may be a customer. I worked in an office and that's where the bulk of my customers come from. I would lease an apartment, chit chat with people trying to find out their needs for a new apartment and the conversation would turn into beauty, hair , and life situations. Even men would say they have a sister or wife that would definitely want a wig or some hair.

From there things started to blossom and I am grateful and blessed for this gift. My goal is to grow my company and be know for Flawless hair and great customer service. I love beauty and art and I love to see others appreciate the same thing.
